One of the areas that gained the most from the development in glass processing is street furniture. Coloured glass or etched glass made it possible to create common items (often very monotonous and simply dull) that catch the eye with its interesting shapes, patterns and colours. Once ugly, uninteresting places became alive thanks to the use of etched glass or lacquered (coloured) glass. The cities gained new, fresh look, that does not interfere with even the most traditional architecture in some areas. Naturally etched glass is as durable as possible, which makes it safe to use when constructing for instance bus stops or telephone booths. Glass is the perfect material that could be (and actually is) used to renew and replace old, boring street furniture with new, unique and durable items. Lacquered or coloured glass may turn every place into living, pleasant to look at area.
